FREIGHT PLANNING.
ID-55; PEAR LANE TO MIDDLETON ROAD
Nampa, Idaho
State Highway 55 is an important freight and commuter route in Canyon County that provides access to orchards, vineyards, farms, and other agribusiness in the area. When the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) set out to modernize the transportation system between Pear Lane and Middleton Road in Nampa, Horrocks was selected to complete surveys and analyses, develop preliminary designs, and create plans to accommodate a high volume of traffic. The goals of this project included:

-
Increasing mobility along approximately 10 miles between Pear Lane and Middleton Road
-
Improving economic growth and opportunities in the region by providing easier access to agricultural producers and enterprises
-
Developing a roadway plan and design modifications that significantly reduce the impacts to environmental and cultural resources in the area
-
Modify the priority transportation corridor to meet current safety and mobility standards
-
Create a design and roadway plan that harmonizes freight and commuter traffic for added user safety
